Terms of Service & End User License Agreement

Welcome to AI Jesus (“Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using our website, application, or any associated services, you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and End User License Agreement (collectively, “Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

AI Jesus is an artificial-intelligence-powered conversational experience that provides scripture-grounded responses tailored to your chosen Christian denomination, Bible translation, and communication preferences. The Service is available through a web application and associated API endpoints.

2. Important Disclaimers

2.1 AI Jesus is Not a Substitute for Professional or Pastoral Care

The Service generates responses using artificial intelligence. It is not a church, ministry, counseling service, or licensed professional of any kind. AI Jesus does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, or theological advice. Responses are AI-generated interpretations and should never replace consultation with a qualified pastor, priest, licensed counselor, therapist, or other professional.

2.2 Crisis and Emergency Situations

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm, or an emergency, do not rely on this Service. Contact emergency services immediately:

2.3 Accuracy of AI-Generated Content

While responses are grounded in scripture references, AI-generated content may contain errors, misinterpretations, or hallucinations. Scripture citations are retrieved through an automated system and may not always reflect the full theological context. You should independently verify any scriptural or doctrinal claims.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. Account Registration

Certain features require you to create an account. You agree to:

  1. Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration;
  2. Maintain and promptly update your account information;
  3. Keep your login credentials secure and confidential;
  4. Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account;
  5. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Subscription Plans and Payment

5.1 Free Tier

The Service offers a free tier with limited functionality, including a daily message limit. Free-tier features may change at our discretion.

5.2 Premium Subscription

Premium features (including unlimited messages, conversation history, bookmarked verses, and priority responses) are available through a paid subscription. By purchasing a subscription, you authorize us to charge the applicable fees to your chosen payment method through our payment processor, Stripe, Inc.

5.3 Billing and Renewal

Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly) and automatically renew unless canceled before the end of the current billing period. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Settings page or the Stripe customer portal.

5.4 Refunds

Payments are generally non-refundable. If you believe a charge was made in error, please contact us within 30 days of the charge. Refund requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

5.5 Price Changes

We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing. Any price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle, and we will provide you with reasonable prior notice.

6. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. This license does not include the right to:

  • Modify, copy, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service;
  • Use the Service to build a competing product or service;
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the Service.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights;
  • Transmit harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content;
  • Attempt to manipulate, “jailbreak,” or circumvent the AI safety measures;
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers, or similar) to access the Service without our written permission;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service’s infrastructure;
  • Redistribute, publicly display, or commercially exploit AI-generated responses without our written consent;
  • Use the Service to generate content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination.

8. User Content

“User Content” means any text, messages, or other materials you submit to the Service. You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, process, and store your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service, including:

  • Generating AI responses to your messages;
  • Monitoring for safety purposes (as described in our Privacy Policy);
  • Improving the quality and safety of our AI systems (in anonymized, aggregated form only).

You represent that you have the right to submit your User Content and that it does not infringe any third party’s rights.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, text, graphics, interfaces, code, and the selection and arrangement thereof, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Scripture texts are used in accordance with the respective Bible translation licenses. “AI Jesus” and associated branding are our proprietary marks. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including but not limited to:

  • AI providers (for generating conversational responses);
  • Stripe, Inc. (for payment processing);
  • Google (for optional OAuth authentication);
  • Vercel, Inc. (for hosting and infrastructure).

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR THEOLOGICAL CORRECTNESS OF ANY AI-GENERATED CONTENT.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE, OUR OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, WHETHER ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, ANY CONTENT OR INFORMATION OBTAINED THROUGH THE SERVICE, OR ANY CONDUCT OF THIRD PARTIES ON THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AI Jesus and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your User Content; or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. Upon termination:

  • Your license to use the Service immediately ceases;
  • We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy;
  • Active subscriptions will not be refunded for the remaining billing period unless required by applicable law;
  • Sections 2, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, and 16 survive termination.

15. Dispute Resolution

15.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

15.2 Arbitration

Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration shall take place in Wilmington, Delaware, or remotely as agreed by the parties. The arbitrator’s award shall be final and binding.

15.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. If this class action waiver is found to be unenforceable, then the entirety of this arbitration provision shall be null and void.

15.4 Small Claims Exception

Notwithstanding the above, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court for disputes within that court’s jurisdiction.

16. General Provisions

16.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

16.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

16.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

16.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

16.5 Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
