- Account information: Email address and name when you create an account (directly or via Google OAuth).
- Preference data: Your selected denomination, Bible translation, and tone/communication preferences.
- Conversation content: Messages you send to and receive from the AI, stored for premium users who opt into conversation history.
- Bookmarks: Scripture references and messages you choose to save.
- Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full credit card number, CVC, or billing address on our servers. We retain your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: Daily message counts, session identifiers, and feature usage patterns.
- Device and browser information: Browser type, operating system, and general device characteristics transmitted through standard HTTP headers.
- Cookies and local storage: We use browser cookies to store your denomination preference and session identifier. We use browser local storage to persist your configuration, message counts, subscription status, and conversation data on your device.
1.3 Safety Monitoring Data
To protect user safety, we operate an automated safety classification system. When a message triggers a safety flag, we may log:
- The flagged message content;
- The safety category and severity level;
- Pattern matches that triggered the flag;
- Your user ID and session ID;
- The crisis intervention response provided.
This data is collected solely for user protection and safety system improvement and is handled with heightened confidentiality.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including generating AI responses tailored to your preferences;
- Retrieve relevant scripture passages via our retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system;
- Process payments and manage subscriptions;
- Monitor for and respond to safety concerns, including crisis situations;
- Enforce our Terms of Service and acceptable use policies;
- Analyze usage patterns in anonymized, aggregate form to improve the Service;
- Communicate with you about your account, subscription changes, or material updates to our policies.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
3.1 Third-Party Service Providers
- AI model providers: Your messages are processed by third-party AI inference providers to generate responses. We use the Vercel AI Gateway, which may route requests to providers including NVIDIA and Anthropic. Message content is transmitted to these providers for processing and is subject to their respective data handling policies.
- OpenAI:We use OpenAI’s embedding models to power scripture retrieval. Query text is sent to OpenAI for embedding generation.
- Stripe, Inc.: Payment and subscription data is processed by Stripe in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
- Google: If you authenticate via Google OAuth, your authentication is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Vercel, Inc.:The Service is hosted on Vercel infrastructure. Server-side data processing occurs on Vercel’s platform.
3.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
3.3 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Where Data Is Stored
- Client-side:Preferences, message counts, and conversation data for free-tier users are stored in your browser’s local storage and are not transmitted to our servers.
- Server-side:Account profiles, conversation history (premium), bookmarks, and safety incident logs are stored in our PostgreSQL database hosted on Vercel’s infrastructure in the United States.
4.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS), secure session management, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
5. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal and operational purposes.
- Conversation history: Retained until you delete it or close your account.
- Safety incident logs: Retained for a minimum of two (2) years for safety monitoring and legal compliance purposes.
- Local storage data: Persists on your device until you clear your browser data.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
6.2 Correction
You may request correction of inaccurate personal data.
6.3 Deletion
You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., safety incident retention for legal compliance).
